Sylvicta is recyclable and repulpable according to the EN 643 certification by CEREC.
Sylvicta is certified for both home and industrial composting through the OK compost mark by the TÜV institute.
It is an unfortunate fact that the packaging we dispose of, which is mainly made of plastic, often makes its way into the sea.
The convenience of using plastic has led to a throw-away culture that reveals the material’s dark side: many of these products, such as plastic food wrappers, have a useful lifespan of mere minutes to hours, yet remain in the environment for hundreds of years.
Plastic waste breaks into small particles called microplastics, that, according to National Geographic, are spread throughout the water column and have been found in every corner of the globe, from Mount Everest – the highest peak, to the Mariana Trench – the deepest trough.
Sylvicta breaks down in soil and marine environments. The OK biodegradable SOIL label guarantees Sylvicta will completely biodegrade in the soil without adversely affecting the environment. In addition, Sylvicta complies with the Marine Aerobic Disintegration Test indicating that it will disintegrates in sea water.
Sylvicta is paper. It does not have any coatings or petroleum based ingredients.
Wood is the starting point for making paper. Forest certification helps to conserve biodiversity and preserve habitats and biotypes, typical of natural forests.
The wood used to manufacture Sylvicta’s pulp comes from sustainably managed forests. All of our mills have certified environmental management systems (ISO 14001) and quality management systems (ISO 9001), as well as PEFC™ and FSC® Chain of Custody.
Sylvicta’s raw material comes from local pulp suppliers, reducing carbon emissions during transportation and supporting the local economy.
Carbon Neutral or Carbon Balanced Paper is an industry specific scheme, delivered on behalf of World Land Trust, that enables us to balance (offset) the carbon emissions of Sylvicta, in order to supply our customers with a Carbon Balanced Paper product range.
Paper is already one of the world’s truly responsible, sustainable, low carbon products. To offset the carbon impact of Sylvicta, the average CO2 emissions from the production and mill transportation of a tonne of paper product has been measured and the equivalent amount is Carbon Balanced through the work of World Land Trust.
Carbon Balanced Paper is achieved through the protection and preservation of ecologically important standing forests, under real and imminent threat of clearance, locking in carbon that would otherwise be released, and securing continued absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Following the principles of REDD+*, this is recognised as one of the most cost effective and fastest ways to arrest the rise of atmospheric CO2 and global warming effects.
